I would like at least 3 months notice maybe more depending on the complexity of your design to make your wedding cake for your special day, but if you only require a simple design it is always worth contacting me as I maybe able to make your cake at short notice. Check out my availability.
I require a 25% deposit to secure the date once the quote has been accepted and payment in full 2 weeks prior to the day unless other arrangements have been agreed.
I can produce cakes that are made with gluten free flour, dairy free products and vegan but I do not bake in an allergy free kitchen and whilst I will attempt to ensure that these cakes are not contaminated, I bake with a wide range of ingredients therefore I cannot categorically state that a product is totally free of an allergen because it has not been produced in an allergen-free environment,
it is the customers responsibility to ensure any recipients of my cakes are aware of the risks.
I am not happy to bake for anyone who has a serious or life threatening allergy, and can not take responsibility for reactions that cause serious injury or hospitalisation. It is important that I am informed, in advance, of any intolerance or allergic reaction to food ingredients.
I have a selection of cake stands that can be hired at £5-£10 a day so that you can display your cake at its best.
I also have wedding cake knife that can be hired, I require a deposit of £25-£75 depending on which stand you require, this will be refunded when the stand is returned in the same condition it was lent in. The deposit will be kept if the stand isn’t returned at the agreed time or if the stand is damaged in someway .
Arrangements must be made for the return of the stand and knife, within 7 days of your event, if I have to collect the stand I will deduct an appropriate amount from the deposit to cover expenses.
I will make every effort to ensure your cake is sturdy enough for transportation.
The cake should be transported on a flat surface, ideally in the boot or footwell, not on a seat, it can although not recommended and especially not for tiered cakes, be carried on an adult passenger‘s lap but must be held from the bottom corners and not the sides which can collapse inwards causing damage to the cake.
It should be away from direct sunlight and car heaters, it is recommended that the air con is used in warm weather.
Here at the Sugar Sweet Cakery I will make every attempt to give you your perfect cake, once the cake has been accepted by the customer it is understood that the customer is happy with the design and look of the cake. Full payment should made 24 hours prior to collection /delivery, unless other arrangements have been agreed. Wedding cakes require full payment 2 weeks prior to the event. Once the cake is set up a photo will be taken to show it was in perfect condition when left, it then becomes the customer or venues responsibility if cake is damage, during moving or from being placed in a inappropriate position such as full sunlight .
Please take care when displaying your cake avoid direct sunlight, spotlights or candles which could cause damage to the cake or decorations. All my cakes are designed to withstand normal and reasonable display conditions, but in extreme heat or cold extra precautions will need to be taken,
All cakes should be stored , prior to displaying, in the box provided in a cool room away from any heat sources, All buttercream cakes should be stored in a cool place or kept, in extreme heat, the fridge, but must be bought to room temperature before serving .
Fondant cakes or cakes with fondant models must be stored in a cool place but should not be kept in the fridge as this can cause the fondant to sweat causing condensation to form which could spoil the finish, it could also make the models droop.
When the cake has been cut it should be stored in an air tight container to maintain freshness and best eaten within the recommended time although it is usually safe to eat after this time, it maybe dry and not taste as good. Most cakes can be frozen, please ask for advice if needed
Once the cake has been delivered/collected The Sugar Sweet Cakery can not accept liability for cakes that are damaged due to poor storage or transportation.
We all have difficult times when we need to change plans, bereavement, accident/ illness,
If you require to cancel your cake order please contact me as soon as possible. if I have started work on your cake , the deposit unfortunately will not be returned to cover costs, but if its before I have started work all payments will be refunded .
If due to unforeseen circumstances I can not make your cake once the order has been accepted I will of course refund all monies and endeavour to find an alternative decorator to take your order, in circumstances where this is not possible I will compensate you accordingly see terms and conditions
